Revitalizing Medford’s Squares | Medford, MA

This project brought a series of “mini-murals” on utility boxes to two distinct squares of Medford, MA: The aim was to provide beautification and revitalization of these specific neighborhoods (South Medford and West Medford). Two artists were selected through a RFQ process for each section of the City during the summer of 2020. Each artist was assigned to a respective neighborhood. Choosing women artists who identify as Black and Asian respectively was an important choice in 2020. With the anti-Black and anti-Asian racism amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic and the BLM resurgence, it was crucial to be able to give these artists a voice.
